Spinning Plates Spinning Plates was the result of a collaborative project led by the arts education charity Magic Me, with The Women's Library and Mulberry School in Tower Hamlets. Older women from the local community worked side by side with twelve Bengali girls from Mulberry School for an afternoon a week for twelve weeks, focusing on the theme of women's roles in the home. All the sessions took place at The Women's Library, and the poems, photographs and ideas that resulted were inspired by Library's collection of domestic manuals. The creative work has been reproduced in a calendar for 2006 which is displayed in the exhibition What Women Want and is available from Magic Me www.magicme.co.uk The facilitators of the project were writer Sue Mayo and photographer Frances Kearney. The project was funded by the St Katharine and Shadwell Trust, The Lucas-Tooth Trust and Mulberry School.
